He is also a recipient of the Blues Foundation’s KBA “Keeping The Blues Alive Award”.
Magic Dick & Shun Ng – Magic was the harmonica player for J. Geils Band and has joined forces with the phenomenal guitarist Shun Ng. Just a fantastic duo..!! We’ll have more details here when we get them!
Deej SG w/Thom Hanes & Bunk Deej SG will create a unique musical experience based around his original Blues-infused style with hints of David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, Billy Gibbons and others. What is particularly unique about this act is that Deej is an “older learner” who began studying lead guitar in 2010 at the age of 50 and has developed his own original and emotional style absent the influences that may have occurred if he’d instead focused on learning other people’s material first. Deej SG & Company has a new surprise for the “& Company” part each year and this year Thom Hanes & Bunk will share the stage for this opening act. So come early… you won’t want to miss a minute of this blues concert event!
Schoenfeld & Wescott Andrew Schoenfeld who is well known to the New York and CT. blues and jazz music scene as an organist and pianist, will be joining us again this year! Andrew has played with artists such as Benny Wallace, Mike Longo, and Chris Morrison. As a longtime associate of Mike Longo, (Dizzy Gillespie’s lifetime keyboardist) Andrew has now produced, directed and instructed on Mike’s heralded video instructional series “The Rhythmic Nature of Jazz”. Andrew has been instrumental in integrating the sounds of Be-Bop and Blues and has found a way to bring fresh interpretations to the blues classics. Playing a Hammond Organ out of a classic Leslie speaker along with a vintage Fender Rhodes piano, Andrew has the prototypical blues sound combined with a master’s technique. Joining Andrew will be drummer Bruce Wescott.
Mike Hayward’s Blue Lions Mike and his band are also back for this 2nd annual event. Mike has a long history as a long time sideman to Bo Diddley and other luminary blues artists including Roy Buchanan and Cub Coda. Mike is the founder and director of some Maine’s finest blues and R&B groups including the Red Light Revue and currently the Blue Lions that play hard-hitting Texas electric blues delivered with a brass knuckle guitar approach. The bands play blues by Freddie King, T-Bone Walker, Bobby Bland, Johnny Guitar Watson and Guitar Slim.
